Hello!
I'm an Australian writer living in London and the Isle of Skye. I've spent 15 years working in the arts, for Sydney Theatre Company, the Royal Society of Literature and the Donmar Warehouse among others. I’m on the board of the Forward Arts Foundation, home of National Poetry Day and the Forward Prizes for Poetry.
I’ve been twice shortlisted for The Bridport Prize in the UK and my poems have been published and performed in Australia and the UK. My book Biting Anorexia, a memoir of recovery from anorexia and depression, was published in Australia, New Zealand, the US and Canada in 2008 and is now out of print. I’ve edited Australia's oldest literary journal Hermes and Magma Poetry magazine. I’m working on my second book.
I like to read and think about: other people’s lives; deep time; why poems are the way they are; what you are reading and how you feel about it. I also like to take photos, think slowly, get blown about by a good wind, visit bookshops and churchyards, and itemise the smells in the air at any one time (currently: damp wood, pine nuts, milky coffee, warm cotton cushions; it is raining and I am in a café in Edinburgh).
