Hello!

I'm an Australian writer living between London and the Isle of Skye. I've spent the last 12 years working at organisations including Sydney Theatre Company, the Royal Society of Literature and the Donmar Warehouse.

In 2008-9, a memoir of my recovery from anorexia nervosa and major depression (Biting Anorexia) was published in Australia, New Zealand, the US and Canada. I am now fully recovered and have edited a second edition. I’ve also edited Australia's oldest literary journal Hermes, Magma Poetry magazine and The Dictionary of Dangerous Ideas.

I have been twice shortlisted for The Bridport Prize in the UK and my poems have been published and performed in Australia and England. A selection of them are available here.

I like to read and think about: other people’s lives; etymology and the development of languages; deep time; poetics and rhetoric; what you are reading and how you feel about it. I also like to take photos, think slowly, watch tiny insects and clouds, visit bookshops and churchyards, squeeze good friends and itemise the smells in the air at any one time (currently: damp wood, pine nuts, milky coffee, warm cotton cushions; it is raining and I am in a café in Edinburgh).
